Buzzards House and Spring Cottage, Devon, Tiverton

Buzzards and Spring Cottage combine to make  a truly lovely holiday venue, they  comfortably sleep 12 (+pull our beds x 2 and cot) and provide the perfect space for families, groups of friends, walkers, nature lovers, dog owners and people wanting an escape from busy lives.  Buzzards can be rented without Spring Cottage too.

The properties have been designed to be  fun, cosy, comfortable, happy places to spend time, with lovely outdoor areas: a south facing sun trap veranda, the fabulous Buzzards Woods, croquet, table tennis, games, fire pits, picnic spot in the orchard and a large hot tub. 

The houses are  the closest properties to rent to Buzzards Wood, one of our favourite places in the West Country. 

Buzzards House

The Ground floor is primarily an open-plan, oak-floored room with a large dining table and huge comfy sofas opening onto the veranda.  This veranda really is the place to spend the day, it is a South facing sun trap, overlooks the garden and the orchards beyond. It is just perfect for outside living, for relaxing, long lazy lunches, watching children playing on the lawn, for croquet, badminton, darts and table tennis matches but also for listening to the incredible bird song while reading a book and just relaxing with a sundowner.  The hot tub is big enough for 7 and is at the far end of the veranda.

On one side of the main area  there is a  cosy sitting room with  large TV, lots of books, games and there is a desk overlooking the garden for those who have work to catch up on.  There is High Speed Broadband.

And on the other side, there is the conservatory with great light and warmth and the sound of the Little Dart gurgling past when the doors are open. Lots of room to be together but also to find some space.

The kitchen is practical, well equipped and conveniently placed for the dining table : two ovens, large gas hob, lots of fridge space, dishwasher – and everything you would expect.

Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms- ( 2 shower rooms and an additional bathroom with huge freestanding bath) Theres also a downstairs loo.

The beds are incredibly comfortable with lovely white bed linen and are a mix of 2 x super-kings, 1 king size and 2 x twin rooms. Expect to sleep very well. There is also a cot and 2 pull out beds for additional children.   

Spring Cottage

This gorgeous romantic ‘bothy’ just the other side of the parking area sleeps 2, is fully self-contained and will be fought over by guests!  Please see photos from number 54 in the gallery above.  It has a super king bed overlooking the balcony and a freestanding bath in the bedroom,  and shower and loo downstairs.

The garden is huge and has orchards on both sides, there are picnic spot by the River and you are welcome to light the firepits – it’s a great Swallows and Amazons space, the owls and birdlife are wonderful and every now and again a deer steals through the orchard.

Things to note

Buzzards can be taken without Spring Cottage

The house is solely for the guests’ use.

Safety for Children- The River Dart flows gently through the garden and there is a small pond, please be aware.

Dogs –  Buzzards is dog heaven BUT we ask that dogs obey the rules and don’t go upstairs, on furniture or in the carpeted sitting room. There’s a lovely boot room for them to sleep in – please bring dog beds & towels and please wash them off after lovely walks…Devon can be muddy and most like to leap in the river!   There is a kennel if you would like to use it, do help yourself.
